The Jacquemart-André museum, a jewel at the center of the 8th arr of Paris
The Jacquemart-André museum occupies a magnificent hôtel particulier on Boulevard Haussmann, built in the late 19th century for the wealthy collectionneur Édouard André, heir to a great banking family, and his wife, the painter Nélie Jacquemart. Created in 1875, the mansion brought together this couple of collectors around a shared passion for painting and the fine arts. Designed by the architect Henri Parent, this stately residence unfolds a grand salon, a music room, a winter garden and a monumental staircase, spaces that give the museum its exceptional atmosphere.
Bequeathed to the Institut de France and now managed by Culturespaces, the museum stands close to the Champs-Élysées and holds the finest private art collection in Paris, set within the atmosphere of a grand 19th-century home. The salons display objets d'art, period furniture and famous masterpieces by Uccello, Mantegna, Botticelli, Van Dyck, Rembrandt, Fragonard and Reynolds, alongside a remarkable Italian collection gathered by the couple across Europe. Among the museum features, a stunning portrait gallery rewards a slow visit. Allow around two hours to admire it all.

The temporary exhibition not to miss
Each year the museum presents two or three temporary exhibitions, usually devoted to a major artist or a key moment in the history of art. Until 2 August 2026, it celebrates Spanish baroque art with the exhibition Splendeurs du baroque, organised with the Hispanic Society of America in New York. For the first time in France, some forty masterpieces by masters such as Velázquez, El Greco and Zurbarán are on display, from early March through the summer.
Before planning your visit, check the dates and the latest details on the museum's site, as exhibitions change with the seasons. The restaurant, café and tea salon, set within the residence, serves fresh, delightful food for a wonderful pause after your tour. There are always new exhibitions to discover.
